He is an Honorary Consultant to Berkshire West Primary Care Trust and a member of the Berkshire Priorities Committee.
He has served on the Department of Health's Medicines Commission, given evidence to the House of Commons Health Committee on NICE and is on the British Medical Association's working party on NHS rationing.
He is the author of Who Should We Treat? - Rights, Rationing and Resources in the NHS (OUP, 2005).
