Di McIntyre is a Professor in the School of Public Health and Family Medicine at the University of Cape Town,
where she has worked since 1988. She is also the South African Research Chair in 'Health and Wealth'.
She founded the Health Economics Unit (HEU) in 1990 and was its Director for 13 years. She is also substantively involved in
a range of capacity development initiatives, including the development of a Masters in Health Economics at the University
of Cape Town, which is the only such program in Anglophone Africa. She was also centrally involved in initiating a capacity
development network in Africa, the Health Economics and Policy Network (HEPNet).
She was involved in the development of training materials for the Washington-based World Bank Institute's "Flagship Programme
on Health Sector Reform and Sustainable Financing" and co-ordinated the Regional Flagship course for Anglophone Africa.
